There are times when you feel like you are stuck in a rut. When this happens more often than you want, you are likely looking for a change in your pace. Why not explore the outdoors? After all, the world is a big playground with a lot of places and spots waiting to be uncovered, discovered and rediscovered.
You and your friends should get around to planning it if you want to add more notable experiences to your repository of memories. This may sound impossible at first, but you will find yourself excited once you are in the location. Or maybe, it is your second or third time to do it, and you are just planning to have that same adrenaline rush you got when you did it for the first time.
Below are some of the things you have to keep in mind when you want to explore the outdoors without stressing yourself and putting yourself in danger.
Get and pack the essentials.
Once you have plotted the date of the adventure, now is the time to plan everything. You may want to create a comprehensive list, which covers all the agreements that you have done with your friends.
Other than the basics, such as food, water, extra clothing, tent and even maps, get other items, such as flashlights and hunting gear (should you decide to hunt with your friends). The latter should not be a problem, as there are many hunting stores in Michigan you can visit.
Pick a safe terrain.
Do not overestimate yourself when picking a terrain to explore. If you are visiting a mountain, pick the easiest terrain (even it actually has some dangerous spots). This is important, especially if you are exploring and surveying the area with your inexperienced friends. Once you have settled for a destination, read guides and come up with plans and routes that will make the sojourn truly easy and safe.
Get a guide.
Safety should always be your priority. With that in mind, it will be wise if you pick a local guide that will help you navigate the terrain. Some natural parks have designated and licensed people who guide visitors when visiting a spot.
Make sure that you listen carefully to the guide, especially if they have initially explained that some spots are actually dangerous. Do not endanger your life and your friends’ while trying to do things that are discouraged by your tour guide. Do not patronize your guides, especially if this is an entirely new thing to you.
Document the experience.
If you are conquering the outdoors for the first time, it will be necessary to document the adventure. Usual cameras may not be practical to bring. With that, you should go for action cameras, which are usually small, waterproof, and easy to use. Other than taking pictures, you may also want to take videos.
These are only some of the things to keep in mind if you want to thrive and survive outdoors. Always remember to leave no trace. Respect Mother Nature.
